We would love to thank all our customers who have been so passionate about CodeTogether and submitted such incredible feedback. We want you to know that we listened! With this many awesome suggestions, we couldn’t decide where to start, so we decided to just dive right in and implement a slew of the most requested features—we’re all staying home right now anyway ;). The entire CodeTogether development team has spent many late nights hacking away to accomplish this monumental task, and although it’s almost out the door, we just couldn’t wait to share a sneak peek of what’s coming your way in CodeTogether 2.0!

You Code, I Code, We ALL Code

We’ve simplified the “control & follow” UI—there’s just a single toggle now, and you’ll find it much more intuitive to follow others, or just take control and do some coding yourself. Another big change—multiple people can now code in the same workspace, at the same time!

For more details, take a look at this issue.

Now This Feels Familiar

For a smoother coding experience in the browser, we now allow you to choose your preferred IDE’s look and feel (light and dark themes included), and choose a set of key bindings you are familiar with as well.

More Good Stuff

Enjoy the ability to invoke quick fixes, highlighting for Scala, multi module/content root support for IntelliJ, and a host of other enhancements that we’ll talk more about soon.

We Didn’t Forget Our Enterprise Customers

For our enterprise customers who’ve been waiting for an on-premises solution for pair programming, with version 2.0 you’ll be able to deploy your own instance of CodeTogether, on your intranet, through a convenient Docker image. Do contact our sales team if you’re interested in learning more about our on-prem offerings.

Our GitHub issues page has all the action, watch this space for further updates. Keep those suggestions coming and we’ll keep listening!
