The CodeTogether Story

CodeTogether began with our team of developers working in a fully distributed software company. Recognizing the value of collaboration but feeling limited by screen sharing, we searched for a better solution. When none could be found, we decided to create our own, leading to the birth of CodeTogether.

In early 2020, we released a preview of CodeTogether Live, and the response was amazing! Our goal was to create an intuitive tool that made it easy to join a pair programming session with just a browser. Thanks to feedback from our incredible users, we have continued to enhance CodeTogether Live, adding features like end-to-end encryption, an On-Premises version, and IDE-to-IDE support across multiple IDEs.

Today, we play an essential role in development at leading companies around the world and are proud to support tomorrow’s developers by facilitating collaboration at over 270 educational institutions.

Building on our history of identifying unmet needs in software teams and creating tools to fulfill them, we expanded our product line in 2023 with the introduction of the CodeTogether HQ Intelligence Suite. Aware that operational intelligence is crucial for making smart business decisions, we saw that software teams were relying on rudimentary metrics from GitHub and Jira after code was committed. Leveraging AI, we found a way to provide actionable operational intelligence by gathering data early in the development process and analyzing real-time coding efforts directly on developer workstations. This timely information empowers developers to stay on track and bolsters precision in software project management.
